Rum Race 07/03/12

Of course, since I did not sail it turned out to be an excellent outing for the seven self abusers that sailed anyway.
The new and smaller starting window seemed to improve the competition. The drift down to the turning mark seemed to be more because of the current than  the wind. (not that there is any current either). On the way back conditions changed, and changed and changed and changed so there was some excitement and a new winner! Greg Devries not only sailed well but he did so at the right time and the right place to correct out in front of a plethora of Lake Monroe experience. Congrats Greg, unfortunately skill and boat speed is not the bottom line when it comes to winning the Rum. Congrats to John North for succeeding in that arena. wb
