Buzzards Bay Regatta

Buzzards Bay -The next day (6-7-8?)

Things are beginning to run together.

Yesterday (day 5 I think) after our time at Johns Coffee Place conveniently located next to West Marine we stopped at the Multihull Source and got several appreciated pointers as to where to launch,  moor,  park, avoid, etc.  Our first trip to the ramp found the fuel supply short so rather than find myself alone in Buzzards Bay with the boat folded and the rig down and out of gas, I felt it prudent to replenish. The second trip to the ramp got the Cannon launched and me aboard. Orion drove the truck to our designated mooring location and waited ashore as I performed miraculous feats of acrobatics in what will be fondly remembered as my first attempt at hooking up to a mooring.

As I approached the fully equipped (with dinghy and pick-up stick) mooring ball I was to utilize, the dock line that had been dragging all the way from the ramp, grabbed the prop.
I was within inches of being exactly where I wanted to be as a small puff nudged me just out of reach of anything. I had SOME room between me and Triceratops, and a couple of other real nice boats. It was necessary to get the boat hook from down below and still not hit anything. With that it was relatively easy to clear the prop and the second pass went much better. Once secured to the pennant (?) the next challenge was to place myself in the dinghy. Suffice to say, a video would have been a grand prize winner… Rowing…. An interesting concept, upwind, against the flow, backwards. This could go on and on just about me and the dinghy. To be succinct, got Orion, rowed back to the boat, GOT FROM THE DINGHY TO THE STILL FOLDED TRIMARAN, alive and dry, had to take a nap.

After unfolding, and working on a new net tightening system, the biting flies were drawing enough blood to attract sharks. Enough, eased myself back into the dinghy with Orion and rowed to the shore. I was not surprised that my keys, wallet, phone, gps, and etc. were still on the boat. Back in the dinghy, back to the boat, out of the dinghy, acquired aforementioned list, back to the dinghy, back to beach. Your imagination is incapable of duplicating the humor of this reality. Having spent much longer than anticipated we were hungry, went to the Mill Pond Diner, hydrated, consumed, read the notice on the door. “We now have WI-FI.” I had to have another nap.
