Rum Race 07/11/12

From the back porch at Wolfy’s, it looked like Lough Buoy started first, with Panacea in second, Show Me, Free Spirit, and Wile E,  formed somewhat of a glob, with XLR8 and Water Wings in the back. The grouping changed somewhat as the wind filled from the east. Viper and 29’er out in front, Panacea, Lough Buoy, and Show Me, sharing the same puff, with Free Spirit behind a bit and the Mc 25 at the back door. The wind is filling from the back though. Viper is making lots of trees upwind on the 29’r after the rounding. Someone is breaking out of the middle clog, can’t tell if it is the Precision 18 or the Mac 21 but the P23 and something looked to be tied together. Wind has gone NE, Viper hard on the tiny little breeze, the rest need to hurry up, or I will run out of battery. The 29’r is creeping up, and the ripples have gained a couple of millimeters. About thirty five minutes in to it, XLR8 is five minutes out and Wile E is out ten, big shift and the Viper deploys the big blue. The clog has congealed, I hear there are batteries for this computer that last eighteen hours, might have to check that out. What’s this, a breakout from the clog? Probably Show Me, he has enough crew to cause his own thermal. There is a little boat next, either the P18 or the Mac 21, P18 won last week but the Mac 21 has professional help, should be interesting… Wind has shifted west, and the whisker poles appear, getting kind of patchy. If  I keep drinking rum till they all finish, my typping is goig to b e ssluurrrd.

The P18 looks to be staying with the P23, mayb even closing, bad news for Show Me, they do not look to be five Portsmouth numbers apart. Oh no! The P18 bears away… There is no wind down there! I would normally be yelling but they are too far away even for my voice. The scores will tell the story, maybe he held on long enough. wb
